A once thriving railroad long ago is now just used for giving rides to kids. This railroad was used mainly by local farmers therefore it was given the name the “farmer’s railroad”. It was created in 1885 but since that time a lot has happened and changed. To survive the Great Depression the company had to switch from steam to gasoline powered trains. Another factor which caused this railroad to become no longer needed was improved highways. I believe this reflects the American Dream because we are always trying to make things more fast paced that way we get what we want quicker, and when highways made getting products faster than what these trains could have done, we stopped using the old locomotives.
